ATEC supports the 2026 SA Variety Bash

Posted on September 14, 2026

ATEC was proud to support the 2026 SA Variety Bash as a sponsor through ATEC Board member Doug Searle, who took part in the event behind the wheel of his 1970 HT Holden Wagon, Car 28.

The Variety Bash is Australia’s oldest and longest-running charity motoring event, bringing together participants in colourful, themed vehicles aged 25 years or older to travel through regional and remote communities while raising funds for children in need.

With the ATEC brand proudly displayed on Car 28, Doug and the Bash convoy travelled from the scrutineering and start line in Gawler, through some of South Australia’s remote communities and landscapes, before reaching the finish line in Port Pirie.

Despite challenging weather and road conditions along the way, the convoy persevered, with the journey providing an opportunity to see first-hand the difference Variety Grants are making in regional and remote communities.

During the Bash, participants saw the impact of grants supporting initiatives including a $65,000 minibus for students in Booberowie, playground upgrades for schools and fuel assistance for a talented teenage sportswoman from a low socio-economic background, helping her travel to Adelaide for training.

The 2026 SA Variety Bash was a journey filled with adventure, community and, most importantly, making a difference to the lives of children across South Australia.

ATEC is proud to support Variety and the important work they do to help children and families in communities across the state.
