ATEC Group Training employs apprentices and hosts them out to one or more Host Employers throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. This gives you the opportunity to develop your trade skills by working in different environments and ensuring continuous employment.

What trades and vocations are available?
Electrical Apprenticeships
To become a qualified Electrician, you will be required to complete an Electrical apprenticeship, which will span over a 4-year training contract. This is all handled by us at ATEC as a part of our sign-up process.
During your 4 years as an apprentice, you will be required to complete both off job and on job training with qualified tradespersons and trainers through the ATEC RTO (Registered Training Organisation). On completion you will achieve UEE30820 – Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and will be qualified to:
- Wire electrical systems and equipment
- Find and repair faults in electrical equipment and systems
- Connect and test electrical systems
- Test and inspect electrical systems
Carpentry Apprenticeships
Build a solid foundation for your future with a Carpentry Apprenticeship. While working towards the CPC30220 - Certificate III in Carpentry, you’ll gain hands-on skills in constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from timber and other materials. When signing up for your apprenticeship, we handle the four-year training contract. You must complete both on-the-job training with qualified tradespersons through a Group Training Organisation (GTO) and off-the-job training with trainers through the ATEC RTO (Registered Training Organisation). This four-year apprenticeship will prepare you for residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects and upon completing your nationally recognised qualification, you will be skilled for:
- Measuring, cutting, and assembling timber and steel framework
- Constructing walls, floors, roofs, and other structural elements
- Installing doors, windows, stairs, and cabinetry
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings and plans
- Using hand and power tools safely and efficiently
- Applying site safety practices and adhering to WHS regulations
Plumbing Apprenticeships
To become a qualified Plumber, you will be required to complete a Plumbing apprenticeship, which will span over a 4-year training contract. This is all handled by us at ATEC as a part of our sign-up process.
During your 4 years as an apprentice, you will be required to complete both off job and on job training with qualified tradespersons and trainers through an RTO (Registered Training Organisation). On completion you will achieve CPC32420 – Certificate III in Plumbing and will be qualified in:
- Sanitary and drainage pipe installations
- Gas, pipework and appliance installations
- Hot and cold water services
- Water recycling technologies
Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Apprenticeships
To become a qualified Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic, you will be required to complete a Air Conditioning and Refrigeration apprenticeship, which will span over a 4-year training contract. This is all handled by us at ATEC as a part of our sign-up process.
During your 4 years as an apprentice, you will be required to complete both off job and on job training with qualified tradespersons and trainers through an RTO (Registered Training Organisation). On completion you will achieve UEE32220 – Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and will be qualified to:
- Install refrigeration equipment
- Decommission and commission refrigeration systems
- Install air conditioning systems
- Install and repair electrical controls and equipment
Data and Voice Communications Apprenticeships
To become a qualified Data and Communications Technician, you will be required to complete a Data and Voice Communications apprenticeship, which will span over a 4-year training contract. This is all handled by us at ATEC as a part of our sign-up process.
During your 4 years as an apprentice, you will be required to complete both off job and on job training with qualified tradespersons and trainers through an RTO (Registered Training Organisation). On completion you will achieve UEE30420 – Certificate III in Data and Voice Communications and will be qualified to:
- Lay and connect cables for telecommunication services
- Find faults in simple dc circuits
- Use electric circuits safely
- Install and repair electrical controls and equipment
- Fix and secure equipment, PC servicing and computer networks fundamentals
Metal Fabrication Apprenticeships
To become a qualified Engineering Tradesperson, you will be required to complete an Engineering Apprenticeship in Fabrication trade, which will span over a 4-year training contract. This is all handled by us at ATEC as a part of our sign-up process.
During your 4 years as an apprentice, you will be required to complete both off job and on job training with qualified tradespersons and trainers through the ATEC RTO (Registered Training Organisation). On completion you will achieve MEM31922 - Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade and will be qualified to:
- Follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements
- Select, clean, and prepare metal stock
- Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using necessary tools and machines
- Join metal sections using various welding techniques, equipment, and machinery
Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeships
To become a qualified Engineering Tradesperson, you will be required to complete an Engineering Apprenticeship in Mechanical trade, which will span over a 4-year training contract. This is all handled by us at ATEC as a part of our sign-up process.
During your 4 years as an apprentice, you will be required to complete both off job and on job training with qualified tradespersons and trainers through the ATEC RTO (Registered Training Organisation). On completion you will achieve either MEM30219 - Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade and will be qualified to:
- Develop, design, test and inspect mechanical devices systems
- Control and automation of manufacturing systems
- Assess project requirements
Business Traineeships (Administration)
To kickstart your career in administration, it’s great to complete a traineeship in Business. This will allow you to do on job and off job training. The training contract will span between 12-18 months, and you will attend an RTO (Registered Training Organisation) to complete BSB30120 – Certificate III in Business. This is all handled by us at ATEC as a part of our sign-up process. On completion, you will be qualified to:
- Demonstrate great customer service
- Process and maintain workplace information
- Demonstrate efficient data entry
- Prepare documentation and invoicing
- Maintain schedules
What we look for in an applicant
- Completion of either Year 11 or 12; or pre-vocational studies
- Genuine interest in a particular trade
- Knowledge of the desired trade or industry
- Own transport and licence is desirable
Training
ATEC offer a range of training services for students. As well as training apprentices in Certificate III level qualifications, we also offer options such as Pre-Employment Programs and short courses.
Pre-Employment Programs
ATEC often offers free training for students, school leavers and eligible Jobseekers. These pre-employment programs cover a range of vocations ranging from welding & fabrication, electrical, construction and aged care.
These programs offer a Certificate II Qualification as well as training in life skills, WHS and industry expectations.
