Posted on July 02, 2026
ATEC was pleased to welcome Shadow Minister for Education, Training and Skills, Heidi Girolamo, to its Ottoway Training Facility on Tuesday, 09 June.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity to showcase ATEC's industry-leading training facilities, discuss the important role vocational education and training plays in addressing South Australia's skills needs, and highlight the work ATEC is doing to prepare the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
During the visit, the Shadow Minister toured the facility and met with BHP fabrication apprentice Matthew, who shared his apprenticeship journey and firsthand experience of training with ATEC.
The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the skills and training sector, and the importance of supporting apprentices and employers to build a skilled workforce for the future.
ATEC appreciates Heidi Girolamo taking the time to visit and learn more about its training programs and the role vocational education plays in supporting South Australia's workforce. The organisation looks forward to continuing the conversation and working together to support apprentices, employers and the future of skills and training across the state.
