Carpentry Trainers Take Part in Biax Professional Development
ATEC’s carpentry training team recently took part in a professional development day focused on foundation systems used in modern construction. The session was delivered in partnership with Bianco Construction and BIAX Foundations, giving trainers the opportunity to work directly with the BIAX products apprentices use during their training.
The training centred on how the BIAX system integrates with steel fixing and formwork units when building foundations. By working through the process firsthand, trainers were able to refresh their knowledge and strengthen their understanding of the techniques apprentices will encounter on site.
This was the second time ATEC has hosted the session, providing an opportunity for new staff to build their knowledge while also refreshing the wider team. Revisiting this training every few years ensures trainers stay current as products and construction processes continue to evolve.
BIAX products are supplied statewide by Bianco Construction, with Alex and Luke joining the session to support the training. Dave and Damian from BIAX led the workshop, guiding the team through how the system works and highlighting its sustainability benefits.
Made from 100% recycled plastic, the BIAX system is designed to reduce the amount of concrete required in slab construction while maintaining structural strength. Sessions like this help ensure ATEC trainers remain confident in delivering the latest industry practices to apprentices preparing for work on-site.
